Coloray: How AI Is Empowering Pearlescent Pigment Production

Last week, Coloray representatives completed the "2026 Training Program for Specialized, Refined, Distinctive and Innovative (SRDI) Enterprises," hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology. Built around the theme of "sound management, innovation as the winning edge," the program focused on upgrading intelligent production, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency, offering companies fresh thinking and new pathways toward high-quality development.

Coloray focuses on pearlescent pigments and advanced materials, with products used widely across cosmetics, coatings, and other industries, and has always built its business on technology and breakthrough through innovation. Amid the wave of digitalization and intelligent manufacturing, Coloray recognizes that while traditional production models remain stable, they are increasingly hard-pressed to keep up with the market's rising demands for fast response and green manufacturing.

During the training, success stories of AI empowering traditional manufacturing left a strong impression on the Coloray team. Building on this and anchored in its core pearlescent pigment business, Coloray is now actively planning a production and management transformation driven by AI. On the R&D side, the company plans to build an in-house production data platform that provides intelligent support across the full chain — from raw material ratios and process control to quality testing — turning accumulated experience into algorithmic logic that can be refined and reused. On the production side, Coloray will explore applying AI to areas such as color and particle-size consistency in pearlescent pigments, optimizing parameter control for key steps like hydrolysis, calcination, and mixing, and replacing some of the highly repetitive, subjective manual tasks to improve quality-inspection efficiency and stability.

Specialization forms the foundation, refinement provides the support, distinctiveness drives competitiveness, and innovation remains the soul of the enterprise. Looking ahead, Coloray will continue to deepen the application of AI across all aspects of its operations, living up to its role as an SRDI enterprise and helping move the pearlescent pigment industry toward smart manufacturing, green innovation, and global collaboration.
